Conclusions of the COPIL CRP 06 Meeting on Tuesday, February 21, 2012, at 4:45 PM
The next quarterly meeting of the COPIL CRP 06, chaired by Benoรฎt Kandel and bringing together the representatives from the 30 partner municipalities involved in the inter-municipal strategy to combat the Red Palm Weevil, aims to review the progression of the infestation over the winter of 2011-2012 and to present the “sustainable” prevention and control program with new biological treatments to be tested during the spring-summer of 2012.
Indeed, this pest threatens our landscape heritage, consisting of nearly 100,000 palm trees, which are both a symbol of our diversity and the emblematic signature of the Cรดte d’Azur.
On this occasion, the Steering Committee of the inter-municipal strategy to combat the Red Palm Weevil will present the new prefectural decree specifying the municipalities affected by the infestation and the implementation of mandatory control measures, as well as the new legal tools for managing contaminated areas. These were developed at the initiative of the Azurian COPIL, in cooperation with State services, concerned municipalities, and the Grasse Court of First Instance.
