To reconnect with a prestigious past and develop the hosting of film shoots, which generate significant economic benefits in various sectors, the City of Nice has implemented new measures to increase the attractiveness of its territory and promote the localization of filming in Nice.
Film Shoot Welcome Office
To facilitate the organization of film shoots, a Film Shoot Welcome Office has been established by the municipality.
Implementation of free public domain occupancy across all municipal establishments, museums, sites, and settings belonging to the City’s heritage for film shoots since December 2009.
Coordination and support for teams to facilitate their administrative procedures with all municipal services.
Authorizations issued within 24 to 48 hours, except for complex setups affecting traffic.
Support for Script Writing or Rewriting
The City of Nice offers Support for script writing or rewriting for confirmed screenwriters backed by a production.
In exchange for a minimum 10-day shoot in the commune of Nice, the production benefits from the following advantages:
- a direct financial grant
- four weeks of residency accommodation.
The selection committee responsible for selecting the applications is composed of personalities with recognized professional skills:
- Antoine de Clermont Tonnerre, President of Unifrance, whose mission is to promote French cinema abroad, Producer.
- Albert Mathieu, President of the European Conservatory of Audiovisual Writing, former program director of Canal +.
- Didier van Cauwelaert, writer, screenwriter, playwright.
- Jacques Fieschi, director, screenwriter for Claude Sautet, Nicole Garcia, Maurice Pialat, Olivier Assayas, among others.
Screenwriting Lesson by John Truby
Hosting a second “Screenwriting Lesson” by John Truby, a globally recognized American screenwriter who works for major studios, companies, and American TV, a Master class for professionals on “The Anatomy of Story,” two days of intensive workshop.
For Young Local Creators
Two professional training sessions in scriptwriting with 15 days of targeted support in individual and collective work for 6 selected candidates.

Bank of public domain images of the city, possibility to download forms, list of local technicians… all valuable information that will be made available to French or foreign productions.
