Nice Airport: the privatization of management services approved by the Senate

Latest News

The Senate has approved Article 49 of the Macron law, which provides for the sale of shareholdings held by the State in airport management services.

The amendments proposed by the senator-mayor of Valbonne, Marc Daunis, received the joint approval of the committee (of which Senator Dominique Estrosi-Sassone was co-rapporteur) and the government.

In fact, it involved associating local authorities in the sales process and maintaining the presence of their representatives in the governing body.

Christian Estrosi, who had opposed the sale of the airport, considered a strategic tool for the attractiveness of the territory, did not fail to express his satisfaction and politically capitalize on this modification.

“After a strong resistance against this text during the first reading in the National Assembly, after the referendum consultation of the people of Nice who pronounced 97.5% against privatization, the proposals I made during my meeting with Emmanuel Macron finally allowed the modification of the text last night in the Senate,” he declared.

If he wants to believe it, nothing wrong with that, but believing it is another matter!

Moreover, in the meantime, this operation its scope and its impact to transition from the local to the regional level: “The Nice Côte d’Azur Airport Company is a pillar of the development of our region. Beyond the Nice airport, the 2nd largest airport in France, this company manages other infrastructures such as Cannes Mandelieu and Saint-Tropez, which are also essential links for the economy and tourism of the entire Provence Alpes Côte d’Azur,” affirmed Christian Estrosi, who became the UMP candidate… in the regional elections this week!
