The Alpes-Maritimes and Nice confirm their political attachment to the right and give Nicolas Sarkozy a vote much higher than the national average. It is true that the outgoing president loses nearly 7 points in Nice compared to the first round of 2007.
Nevertheless, his advantage over his socialist rival is clear and uncompromising.
The right-leaning option of the electorate is confirmed by Marine Le Pen’s second place, which also received more votes than at the national level;
Franรงois Hollande improves the score of the 2007 candidate Sรฉgolรจne Royal (from 20.4 to 22%) but not sufficiently compared to his rivals.
The collapse of Franรงois Bayrou aligns with the national trend (-8 points) while J.L. Mรฉlenchon adds color to his performance with 9.1%, whereas in 2007 the Communist Party candidate Marie-George Buffet could not go beyond a symbolic 1.89%.
