It’s a true journey offered tonight to the spectators of the third evening of a Nice Jazz Festival that started with a bang during its first two events. The flight plan tonight, on the Masséna stage, features the charming Beth Hart, the Tuaregs of Tinariwen, and to conclude, the band Texas that needs no introduction. Over at the Théâtre de Verdure stage, the show will be handled by Jimi Brown Experience, Dr. John, and Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue.
A journey that will start in Nice with the local group Jimi Brown Experience, a gathering of musicians known for playing rather acoustic and traditional jazz music, who wanted to explore new horizons by getting closer to the original sound and spirit of the music of Jimi Hendrix and James Brown… Following that, two buffet stops in New Orleans with first, a great gentleman, Dr. John, whose name is inspired by the voodoo myth but will set aside his black magic for more bluesy, boogie-woogie, or rock and roll rhythms, and finally, Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue who will, once again like last year, try to stir up passions in the heart of the audience.
On the Masséna stage, the United States will be honored again with the lovely Beth Hart whose voice matches her beauty and will surely delight even the most demanding music lovers with the standards of Billie Holiday, Etta James, Ray Charles, Melody Gardot, Aretha Franklin, or Tom Waits. A change of continent for the second part with the Tuaregs of Tinariwen, who with their crafted guitars, Raï, and Malian blues, will take you on a journey to the heart of their native Mali. The highlight of the evening should sound like a grand finale with a last journey to Scottish lands with Texas and their sublime Sharleen, moving from blues-rock to disco-pop. After a period of inactivity on stage, they are making a grand return to Europe this year and have chosen Nice as a stop on their tour.
An invitation that cannot be refused, therefore, and the passengers for this third evening of NJF 2012 are requested to present themselves, starting from 7 PM, in the heart of Albert 1st Garden… Bon voyage!
