The second largest marathon in France after the Paris one, approximately 9,356 runners took off yesterday, Sunday, November 28, between Nice and Cannes.

Under a sunny sky, the runners departed from the Promenade des Anglais around 8 am to reach the Martinez Hotel in Cannes, 42.195 km later.

The first to cross the finish line, in 2 hours, 11 minutes, and 21 seconds, was Kenyan Enock Onchari, with an average speed of 19.28 km/h. He was followed by three other men, all from Kenya.

In the womenโ€™s category, it was Frenchwoman Claire Amann who finished first, in 2 hours, 56 minutes, and 24 seconds, with an average speed of 14.37 km/h. She represented the Team Nissa Triathlon. The other two women on the podium were also French.

The complete list of results can be found here.

Although the record wasn’t broken, the public was present, and the runners enjoyed this 13th edition, the previous one having been canceled due to the health crisis. About 20,000 spectators came to cheer on the runners during this solidarity marathon.

Besides the traditional marathon from Nice to Cannes, alternatives were offered to suit everyone. For instance, some were able to run the 20 km between Nice and Villeneuve-Loubet, a 2×21 km between Nice and Antibes and then between Antibes and Cannes, or the marathon relay, a race divided among 3 to 6 runners.
