Nice Carnival 2014, King of Gastronomy

Latest News

From February 14 to March 4, 2014, His Majesty Carnival will reign over his city. The [130th edition of these carnival festivities](https://www.nicecarnaval.com/) will be themed around gastronomy. Bon appรฉtit!

On this occasion, the [Nice Carnival](https://www.nicecarnaval.com/) will sponsor the Label: “CUISINE NISSARDE.” If in Lyon, the cuisine is labeled by its “Bouchons,” here, the specificity of our culinary art proudly bears the name of our city.

The guest of honor this year will be Germany. Indeed, we are celebrating the sixtieth anniversary of the twinning of Nice with Nuremberg. The carnival’s main events will revolve, as they do each year, around the parades and flower battles. For the carnival parades, 18 floats, international musical groups, and giant heads will enliven the route.

The flower battles take place on the Promenade des Anglais with 20 floats decorated by florists. Nice is also a capital of flowers and horticulture. Sports will not be forgotten with the second edition of the Rockโ€™n Roll Carnival 10 miles. A wild and costumed race where sports efforts and music merge.

The gastronomy will be sweet and savory at His Majesty’s table. It will blend the culinary traditions of our guest and those of our region. This edition of the Carnival, as we’ve judged, should by its eclecticism satisfy the greatest number of visitors. Carnival is the most important event of the winter and spring in Nice.

Born in 1873, our Carnival has withstood time and epochs and like the Phoenix is reborn each year from its ashes, those of the sacrifice where it is immolated during a fireworks display concluding the carnival festivities on Mardi Gras before the onset of Lent.
