The battle of flowers represents a unique spectacle in the world and is among the most renowned festivals of the Côte d’Azur. These battles are in harmony with the carnival floats, forming a parade of floral creations on the same theme. Their execution is a meticulous and lengthy task, carried out to perfection by the florists.
-Saturday, March 5, 2011, at 9 PM, Place Masséna
In the evening, all the floats are illuminated, and the parade of 20 floats lights up the heart of Nice. Designed around the theme of the “King of the Mediterranean,” it consists of about 30 large paper-mâché heads and 200 animation elements, the true satellites of the floats. It becomes a colorful parade with vibrant colors, blending street art and musical groups from around the world.
