The Ministry of the Interior and the prefecture of the Alpes-Maritimes have made decisions regarding security measures for the 2016 edition of the Nice Carnival (February 13-28) and the Lemon Festival (February 13-March 2) in Menton. Of course, some details of the plan remain confidential.
First, all internal security forces of the department, including the departmental directorate of public security, military personnel of the Sentinel operation, SDIS 06, SAMU, departmental gendarmerie group, municipal police, and civil security associations are fully mobilized;
Additionally, the private security measures (security pat-downs, bag searches, and metal detection) will be enhanced, along with the prohibition of large costumes and/or those accompanied by fake weapons.
The movement of children outside school premises or leisure facilities for participating in neighborhood Carnivals is not permitted.
