Nice Carnival: The city inaugurates its very first “carnival village”

Latest News

For the very first time, the city of Nice has established a “carnival village,” a festive space freely accessible on the green corridor.

From February 9 to 27, this renowned “village” gathers a host of stalls, ranging from coloring workshops for the little ones to tasting stalls, and includes a magic stand, a carnival mask selling stand, and even an immersion into the carnival’s backstage. There is something for both young and old.

With this “carnival village,” the city of Nice aims to give a more “popular” touch to this edition, following the tumultuous 2020 edition and the annulled 2021 one.

Yesterday afternoon, the atmosphere was very festive, with large heads scattered in the park, percussionists parading, and confetti flying in the sky.

During the inauguration of the village, Christian Estrosi took the opportunity to visit each stall and, above all, he presented the sketches of the carnival king and queen, which he was discovering at the same time as us. “It’s great, it’s both very modern while recalling the first half of the 20th century, with a very Nissart spirit” he declared.

The queen of the battle of flowers also introduced herself to the public present at the inauguration.

The village, located on the Promenade du Paillon at Square Général Leclerc, will be open on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays from 10 AM to 6 PM, on Friday the 11th (opening of the carnival) from 10 AM to 7 PM, and on Tuesdays and Saturdays (days of the parades) from 10 AM to 9 PM.

Other activities will also be offered during the carnival. You can find the program on this site.
