francophonie_nice.jpg In this context, and in order to already make the people of Nice aware of this event, the City of Nice wants to set up a schedule of activities around this theme. Among these events, the Francophonie Day will be celebrated on March 17th at Verdure Theater and on Jacques Cotta Square.

A “village of the 5 francophone continents” will be set up on Jacques Cotta Square. This space will allow for the presentation, continent by continent, of the francophone countries that make them up.

Each country will be represented by a local association that, by holding a stall, will allow the discovery of its heritage, the exhibition of its cultures and traditions.
Culinary specialties from the countries will also be offered for sale.

Represented will be: Burkina Faso, Senegal, New Caledonia, Cape Verde, Tunisia, Vietnam, Morocco, France, Armenia, Monaco, Lebanon, Romania, Switzerland, Belgium, Haiti, Canada, Quebec, New Brunswick, Mayotte, Madagascar, Switzerland, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Comoros and the French overseas territories.
In total, about 30 associations from Nice will participate in making this day a success.

Shows will follow one another on the stage of the Verdure Theater: tales, Tahitian dance, Mahorais dance, African dance, hip-hop dance, oriental dance, singing, costume parades, salsa, and a demonstration of traditional Senegalese wrestling.

The Nice association “Eveil ton Art,” a 1901 law association, has been chosen by the City to ensure the preparation and artistic coordination of this day.

Program:

1:30 PM: Opening of the “village of 5 continents” with tastings and sales of products from around the world.
