The traditional Festival of Saint Peter will take over the Quai des Etats-Unis and the harbor on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th June. It originated to protect from barbaric intrusions and to gain the favor of the patron saint of fishermen, thus “la Festa de San Pèire” was born.
Several centuries later, this tradition persists and includes numerous events: a procession of fishermen from the Gésù Church to the Quai des Etats-Unis, Ponchettes Beach, blessing, mass, folk dances, cremation of a boat, and the magical parade of flower-decorated boats in the Lympia basin which delights everyone each year.
Therefore, join us at the Port of Nice from Saturday to celebrate Saint Peter and the fishermen of Nice.
