Forty years ago, the first man walked on the Moon. This was a major advancement in space exploration and the improvement of new technologies, enabling further progress in the conquest of the universe.
To mark the event, a film depicting the saga of American test pilots will be shown on a giant screen at the Place du Palais de Justice on the evening of July 21. The movie “The Right Stuff” tells the story of astronauts selected to become the first Americans to venture into space, as part of the Mercury Space Program, which later led to the Apollo 11 mission with the very famous Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Mike Collins (who remained in orbit).
This evening will be presented by two experts: Michel Chevalet, a science journalist, and Jean-Louis Heudier, honorary president of the Astrorama PARSEC [[Association created in 1986 by Jean-Louis Heudier with the goal of spreading scientific knowledge, primarily focused on Astronomy and Space]], astronomer at the Observatory of the Cรดte dโAzur and vice president of the Aeronautics and Astronautics Association of France. The two men will lead the evening with debates about the movie and the 40 years since the first Moon landing. This provides a way for the people of Nice to share under the stars, in front of the Palais de Justice, the memory of an event that left its mark on everyone.
