One question remains: Why Nice and not Montpellier or even Paris?

For Peter Krick, the international skating federation’s sports director, “in view of the city, there was no better choice possible. The hotels, the competition rink, and the training rink are very close to one another.”

A significant advantage that largely favored the European city of sport 2011.

No need to remind that Nice was the last city in France to host the World Figure Skating Championships in 2000. Everyone remembers it as if it were yesterday because it was a true success: 52,000 spectators over 6 days of competition.

Christian Estrosi, mayor of Nice, hopes to break this record: he expects about 100,000 people for this event.

Eric Ciotti moreover highlighted the economic benefits of such an event: “It is a major sporting event that will bring a lot to the city in terms of imagery. I feel a lot of joy, pride, and enthusiasm at the idea of welcoming all these champions.”

And Christian Estrosi concluded: “Low Cost in Nice, that’s not for right now!”
