On the occasion of the 67th anniversary of the Nice bombing that occurred on May 26, 1944, the city of Nice invites you to the commemorative ceremonies of this event on Thursday the 26th starting at 8 AM at Place de la Brigue.

67 years later, the City of Nice pays tribute to the civilian victims with the laying of wreaths at various monuments and steles erected in their memory:

8:00 AM: Ceremony at Place de la Brigue

8:15 AM: Ceremony in memory of the Railway Workers who were victims of the bombing
Courtyard of the Saint-Roch train station depot

8:40 AM: Ceremony in memory of the deceased in the Riquier district
Place Auguste Blanqui

9:05 AM: Ceremony at the Jean-Macรฉ school
Intersection with Avenue Marรฉchal Lyautey and Rue Gรฉnรฉral Tordo

9:20 AM: Ceremony at 63 Boulevard de lโ€™Observatoire

On May 26, 1944, Nice was bombed between the districts of Riquier, Pasteur, the Abattoirs, and Rรฉpublique by the Royal Air Force and the US Air Force, targeting the Saint-Roch railway site to prevent any traffic and disrupt the German occupation.

The toll included nearly 300 deaths, 100 missing, 480 injured, and 600 buildings destroyed or damaged.
