“MobilAzur” is a demand-responsive transport service reserved for people with reduced mobility, operating daily from 7 AM to midnight and on Sundays from 9 AM to 7 PM. Reservations can be made by telephone, email, internet, and through a voice server. The reservation principle allows for the grouping of trips since it is a form of public transport.
On December 12, the Community Council decided to entrust the operation of the “MobilAzur” service to KEOLIS company under a public service delegation (DSP).
Until now, the City of Nice has provided a transport service on its territory for people in wheelchairs, the blind, and all those holding an 80% disability card. Nearly 30 people were transported each day using 4 adapted vehicles. In total, 253 wheelchair users and 106 visually impaired individuals are currently transported by the Community Center for Social Actions (CCAS), and their requests will now be automatically handled as part of the “Mobil’Azur” service. Regarding other people with reduced mobility (531 beneficiaries), the CCAS will continue to provide their transport until taken over by the “Mobil’Azur” service.
Future installations
Each year, between 30 and 50 accessible bus stops are created with an investment of 1.5 million euros. There are currently 2000 such stops. The transports are expected to reach the number of 1945. The prioritization of bus stop arrangements takes into consideration the volume of traffic or sensitive areas such as hospitals. In terms of information and safety, the new bus stop poles installed for visually impaired people are equipped with a detection system.
During this transitional period, Christian Estrosi, Deputy Mayor of the city of Nice, has asked the CCAS to apply a fare of 1 euro, instead of the usual 3.60 euros.
