– This conference, presented by Jean-Pierre Pantalacci, is part of the cycle “From the States of Savoy to Italian Unity,” organized by the Directorate of Historical Heritage, Language, and Niçoise Culture, under the impetus of Jean-Marc Giaume, Municipal Councillor, Community Councillor.

– The subject of study focuses on the relationships that the princes of the House of Savoy have always maintained with the arts, from the time of the restoration of the duchy, in the mid-16th century, to the proclamation of the Kingdom of Piedmont-Sardinia, in the 18th century. The princes of Savoy are illustrious patrons who knew how to attract numerous artists to Turin, to give their capital and court grandeur, luster, and prestige. By highlighting the most significant examples and moments, the aim is to engage in a reflection on the achievements and modalities of this patronage, in light of the political projects of these ambitious sovereigns.
