The Russian prodigies of the Vera Lautard-Chevtchenko piano competition
In collaboration with the France โ Russia association (Cรดte dโAzur delegation)
A fascinating destiny, that of French pianist Vera Lautard-Chevtchenko, who inspired filmmaker Valery Akhadov’s film “Ruth” (1989), in which the role of Vera is played by Annie Girardot.
At the age of 12, Vรฉronique Lautard was playing in the orchestra of the famous Italian conductor Arturo Toscanini. She also studied in Paris with Alfred Cortot, whose appreciation for Chopin and Debussy she would always share.
She acquired the reputation of a prodigious concert performer at a very young age… Her life wavered in 1938 when she followed her husband, Vladimir Chevtchenko, to Soviet Russia. He was arrested and shot, a victim of one of the purges. Vera was thrown into the gulag where she carved a keyboard into her bed frame “not to forget Bach.”
The Yeltsin Foundation decided to support and finance the competition created in 2005 by former students and admirers of Vรฉronique Lautard. The competition is also recognized by the biggest cultural establishments and institutions of the Urals.

BRASS BAND
This original ensemble with nuanced sounds was born out of a wonderful initiative: bringing together in one group the best brass musicians from the department and offering them a particularly conducive place to express their talent. Leading the project were Gรฉrard Hostein, trumpet professor and director of the Antibes Conservatory of Music, and Philippe Bleuez, professor at the Nice Conservatory. Eleven years ago, these two musicians decided to bring together students from music conservatories, amateur musicians, and professionals.

Kosma Evening โ Quadricolor
While still students at the Conservatory of Nice in Fred Luzignant’s class, Guillaume, Billy, David, and Romain decided to form Quadricolor. They started performing concerts in 2008 and quickly found themselves on the major stages of the region.
They are prodigiously musical, “imbued with their complex rhythms, melodious beyond decency, illuminated from within by an incandescent groove.” The Nice group received the Talents des Auditeurs prize from Dezeer, was the headline act in 2011 at the inRocKs lab evening of the Europavox festival, and benefited from the broadcast of their live performance on Arte live web, etc… We havenโt heard the last of them!

Fabrice di Falco, is a lyric singer with a sopranist/countertenor timbre; 1st prize in singing at the CNR of Boulogne-Billancourt. Masculine-feminine and eclectic. This is how one might define soprano singer Fabrice Di Falco. Born in 1974 to an Italian father and an Antillean mother, he fully embraces these mixed origins. Today, he sails between Baroque opera, contemporary opera, the show “The Breath of the Wind,” and recitals. His references are Maria Callas for her extraordinary theatricality and the black singer Barbara Hendricks. An angelic voice… moving!
