Nice Côte d’Azur Open: The First Round Falls Through

Latest News

Due to the heavy rains battering the city of Nice, no matches could be played this Monday on the courts of the legendary Nice Lawn Tennis Club.
Consequently, all matches will be postponed to the following day.

open_affiche-3.jpg No leniency was granted to the organizers today. Although this was what weather forecasts had predicted, everyone hoped for a lull, especially the spectators.

Around eleven o’clock, the court staff attempted to uncover the center court, not anticipating the return of the rain.
The first official announcement came, the matches were postponed to 2 PM, then 4:30 PM… Finally, everyone thought the anticipated match between the two French players, Benoit Paire against Roger-Vasselin, scheduled for the evening, would still take place.

But as the day went on, it became clear that there would be no tennis on the clay courts of Nice.

The players quickly left the club premises, most opting for the covered clay courts in Grasse.

In the middle of the afternoon, the Nice-born tennis player Camille Pin brought her smile to the Open village. She was closely followed by another local, Gilles Simon, who came to answer journalists’ questions.

Her statement

“I am very pleased, I’ve been wanting to come here for a while now.
It’s true that unfortunately, the timing isn’t ideal for me right before a Grand Slam, but every year that I didn’t come, I felt a bit sad.

So this year I decided to come, I will do my best here, I’m very happy because there will be many people coming who wanted to see me play here, so I hope to do well.” … we wish her luck.
