During the last community council, Christian Estrosi publicly criticized the regional policy, accusing it of undermining Nice’s interests, indirectly targeting Patrick Allemand, the First Vice-President of the regional institution. The exchange of words between the two politicians has now been followed up by Patrick Allemand, who accuses the President of the Urban Community of “lying”! Will there be a response from Christian Estrosi?
On April 13th, during the Community Council meeting where the creation of the metropolis was voted on, Christian Estrosi cited one of the reasons for justifying the perimeter as the fact that being a neighbor to Italy through the Mercantour would enable him to secure European funding. In his speech, Patrick Allemand mentioned that he had access to funds but was unable to spend his FEDER, to the point where this non-consumption could lead to an automatic decommitment.
Christian Estrosi responded that this was false, saying that the Urban Community managed the European funds perfectly and that the European Union had actually withdrawn funds from the Region to allocate them to the Urban Community, due to the poor management by the Regional Council.
“The reality is quite different. The figures below support my statements and indicate a lack of understanding of European files.” stated Patrick Allemand while backing up his criticisms with concrete evidence.
Measure 4.1 of the FEDER funds pertains to new urban and rural approaches and sensitive rural areas.
23 million euros have been allocated to the three urban communities of the Region
10.41 million for Marseille-Provence-Mediterranean (MPM)
6.62 million for the Urban Community of Toulon (TPM)
5.05 million for the Urban Community of Nice-Côte d’Azur (NCA)
As of April 18th, MPM had programmed 2.65 million, representing 25% of its funds, and certified (actual expenditures) 268,981 euros, which is 3%.
TPM had programmed 1.51 million (23%) and certified 651,776 euros (10%).
As for NCA, the table reveals the lie of Estrosi.
The Urban Community has programmed 0 and consequently certified 0!
