Nice is doing everything possible to attract visitors from around the world. These efforts have been rewarded: the City of Nice has just been awarded the “tourist resort” classification, granted by the Ministry of Economy, Finance, and Industry, on February 10th.
This classification is granted for a duration of 12 years. It is a recognition of the City’s excellent tourism offering and serves as a major marketing and communication tool for Nice and the Nice Cรดte d’Azur Metropolis.
To obtain this quality label, Nice had to meet numerous conditions in areas as diverse as accommodation, accessibility, traffic, commercial facilities, urban planning policies, the environment, beautification, and tourism promotionโฆ
The classification as a “tourist resort” is the final step in a new procedure that now involves an essential prerequisite, the classification as a “tourist municipality,” which the city obtained on June 8, 2010.
With 4 million visitors each year, the capital of the Cรดte d’Azur is France’s first tourist destination after Paris. Nice is also the top convention city in France after Paris and boasts one of the country’s leading hotel infrastructures in terms of quality and capacity, with around 170 hotels and 10,000 rooms.
