Certainly,
As there is a “but,” of course, a schism appeared on Thursday evening during the second night of the festival held at the famous Hi Hotel, one of the trendiest hotels in Nice and the Côte d’Azur. The evening, starting with a welcome drink offered on the hotel’s rooftop, promised to be festive, with DJs playing ambient music at a controlled volume. This was certainly not the opinion of the neighbors of the Nice establishment, who hastened to alert the municipal police. They soon arrived at the hotel’s doors with the firm intention of ending what the residents described as a “deafening noise.” The conversation thus opened on the sidewalk of Avenue des Orangers, gradually filling with guests arriving for the second part of the evening.
The hotel officials tried their best to ease the situation, but two rather upset neighbors wouldn’t hear it and insisted to the police officers present, “It’s unbearable and, moreover, it’s not the first time.”
“It’s an evening of a festival sponsored by the City Hall of Nice and the General Council, and we have personally informed all the relevant services,” the Hi Hotel managers attempted once again to reason. Yet, some reasons are eclipsed by decibels, and finally, the decision to end the welcome drink served on the hotel rooftop partially resolved the incident.
This would have been understandable if the events described had taken place after 10 PM, but it all happened at the very beginning of the evening, around 8 PM. It’s rather strange that in a city thriving on tourism and festivities, a festive moment can’t be organized without neighbors immediately calling on public order representatives to put an end to it.
Everything eventually returned to normal, and the public thankfully enjoyed the festivities inside the hotel until the end of the night.
Ah, Nice! Sometimes you know how not to be as beautiful as your own people sing!
