Finally a victory for OGC Nice! Dominant in play and finally realistic offensively, the Aiglons outclassed the transparent Bordeaux team yesterday, at the Ray stadium (3-0). With this second win of the season, the Gym is breathing easier. Bordeaux is edging closer to the precipice.

For more than four minutes, the visibility of the 22 players was spoiled by the smoke bombs brandished by Nice supporters yesterday at the Ray stadium. To the point that the referee, Sébastien Moreira, had to suspend the match, waiting for the smoke cloud to disperse.
A first turning point in the match which probably did not do the Girondins of Bordeaux any good. As soon as the game resumed (exactly at 4’30”), Éric Roy’s men took control of the game.
For once, the reward came very early, in the 11th minute. Éric Mouloungui finally opened his score, after getting ahead of Cédric Carrasso’s exit. The Gabon’s goal was allowed, despite the Bordeaux goalkeeper’s anger, who was claiming a handball.
Bordeaux then tried to react. In the 27th minute, Yoan Gouffran created a great chance but completely missed his shot. It’s symptomatic of a team in full doubt.
Immediate sanction
A few minutes later, the former Caen player had reason to regret his lack of precision, as David Hellebuyck doubled the lead by catapulting the ball into Carrasso’s net, following a nice service from Meriem.
Bordeaux was at a standstill. Apathetic in defense, the Girondins were also incapable of offering any game. In attack, the trio Modeste – Gouffran – Maurice-Belay was lifeless. Never, since the start of the season, had David Ospina had such a quiet evening.
Despite the entries of Ben Khalfallah and Saivet (46th), Bordeaux was too stunned to imagine coming back in the score. This was evidenced by a volley at 6 meters from Diabaté (51st) that soared into the Nice sky.
The Girondins crack
Frustrated, Gillot’s men ended up committing fouls as stupid as they were unnecessary. In the 64th minute, French international Michaël Ciani received a warning for a charge on Mouloungui. On the free kick, Monzon surprised everyone by setting up Kafou Coulibaly.
The Ivorian struck from 20 meters. On the trajectory, François Clerc deflected the ball into Carrasso’s net. And even though the Bordelais claimed offside, the goal was allowed (3-0).
With this second win of the season, Nice breathed easier and rose to 13th place. On the other hand, the Girondins, at 17th, continued their descent into hell.
