In the heart of the NICE ETOILE Shopping Center, a monumental work by artist Matteo Messervy, Converstation, will transport wanderers and strollers, both young and old, into a magical world at the edge of the intangible.
Concluding a year dedicated to contemporary art in style, NICE ETOILE entrusted the light artist with the design and creation of a monumental glass installation โ 12 meters high and covering 12 square meters โ which will illuminate its central well during the holiday season.
Converstation is a cloud of several hundred blown glass droplets that interacts with the interior architecture of the NICE ETOILE Center, but also engages in conversations with everyone who views it, “the work lives from the various conversations โ sound, light, and colorful โ held between each of the identical glass objects that compose it,” according to the artist. From this aerial pattern emerge soft variations of light in pastel hues that provide much-needed respite for city dwellers constantly bombarded during the festive season.
Like others work with stone or color, Matteo Messervy creates installations in which light is simultaneously a story, art, physical experience, and therapy. As a visual and sound message, Converstation will resonate to the organic rhythm of Danish musician Jon Egeskov, whose music Matteo Messervy has chosen to help immerse visitors in a wave of well-being and serenity.
Designed with the democratization of contemporary art in mind, Matteo Messervy’s creation naturally fits into the bright modernity that NICE ETOILE offers, a seductive center in perfect harmony with its times.
