For its 5th edition, the French business tourism promotion operation, organized by Atout France, is currently being held in Nice (from September 9 to 13). Nearly 130 industry professionals have attended.
After Paris last year, Atout France (the tourism development agency) chose Nice to host the France Meeting Hub event. This event will allow 78 event organizers from 27 countries to discover what France has to offer in terms of business tourism. Organized in partnership with the Nice Tourist Office and the Nice Côte d’Azur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI), this event aims to boost the city’s tourism activity in the short term. Moreover, the CCI has invested €165,000 in this event to revive a dynamic environment and unite businesses and merchants. “With this operation, Nice will become the crossroads between buyers from 27 countries and sellers from all over the world,” says Denis Zanon, director of the Nice Tourist Office.
This is proof of a development ambition on the part of the city hall, as well as from all Niçoise society stakeholders. This is evidenced by the arrival of the new tram line and the creation of a new Exhibition Center by 2022. To convince decision-makers to come for business tourism, it’s not enough to simply showcase the Promenade des Anglais scenery. The image has changed. The most important factors are being a connected city, having clean transportation, state-of-the-art hospitals, and quality infrastructures. In this regard, Nice is ready as it is currently the world’s 4th Smart City. The creation of a direct line between Nice and China, in partnership with Air France, represents significant progress in the effort to generate business tourism.
All of this represents a fantastic opportunity in the wake of the July 14 attacks, aiming to definitively revive the region’s economic activity, which seems to be on the rise.
