This Sunday, April 19, 2026, Nice woke up to the rhythm of footsteps, cheers, and the sound of strides. For this 34th edition of the International Half Marathon, nearly 19,000 runners enlivened the city from the early hours of the morning, transforming the Promenade des Anglais into a long, lively, and colorful line.
An organization at the service of the runners
Before the race, an actual event village was set up throughout the weekend to allow participants to pick up their bib numbers and discover the various activities offered.Â

On the big day, the organization proved smooth and perfectly managed, driven by the commitment of numerous volunteers who deserve thanks for their availability and energy.

Throughout the morning and the races, the atmosphere was set by music and the interventions of the emcees, present to accompany and motivate the runners from start to finish.Â
Beyond the sporting performance, this oversight contributes to reinforcing a strong sense of belonging: whether amateur or experienced runners, all share the impression of being part of a real sports community.
A city still calm… before the wave of runners
Even before the sun rises, the surroundings of the Promenade des Anglais gradually come to life and become a true hub of activity. Volunteers set up the last barriers while the first groups of runners arrive.Â
In the minutes leading up to the start of each race, runners are actively preparing. Group or solo warm-ups, final stretching, adjustments to the bib numbers: each person refines their routine.Â
In the starting pens, faces gradually close in concentration. The anticipation of the start signal becomes palpable. Adrenaline, stress, excitement, and joy mix in one momentum: finally setting off on the race.
Then the start is given. And in a matter of seconds, the city changes pace!
A sea of runners on the Promenade des Anglais
Very quickly, the Promenade des Anglais becomes a continuous ribbon of colors and movement. The runners stretch over kilometers, carried by a crowd of spectators present throughout the course.
As the kilometers progress, a real solidarity forms among the participants. Powered by the energy of the public, the runners often find a second wind thanks to their cheers, loyal throughout the course.Â
Shouts, applause, personalized messages: everyone receives their dose of support. In this unique atmosphere, barriers fall, and the effort becomes collective. The runners help each other, pass one another with encouragement, and advance with the shared impression of being pushed beyond their own limits.
On the course, cheers increase: names on bibs are shouted, music groups set the pace, and families wave signs to support a loved one… or a stranger.

Far from being just a competition, the race becomes a collective experience.
At the finish: fatigue, emotions, and smiles
At the finish line, the atmosphere changes dimensions again. The final straight is arguably the most intense moment of the race. This is where the ultimate efforts are felt, where runners draw on their last reserves to cross the line with style. On the blue carpet of the finish, cheers intensify: close ones, friends, or casual spectators, all are present to applaud and congratulate the participants in a benevolent atmosphere.
The finish is then a highly emotional moment: smiles, sometimes tears, laughter too, mixed with the pride of having finished the race, of having met the challenge, and above all, of going beyond oneself.
After the effort, rewards and recovery time
Once the line is crossed, the runners head to the arrival area where their medal is presented to them, a concrete symbol of the effort accomplished. They can then enjoy refreshments: water, fruits, and cakes, offering a real moment of comfort after the exertion. In this same recovery area, each participant also leaves with a water bottle, a useful souvenir of the event.Â

But beyond the items, it is mostly a memorable experience that each person takes with them: that of meeting a personal challenge in a unique and unifying atmosphere, leaving a lasting memory of this edition.
A popular celebration above all
This 2026 edition confirms the identity of the Nice half-marathon: that of a great popular sports celebration. Between beginner runners, seasoned athletes, and casual enthusiasts here to meet a personal challenge, all share the same course, the same city, and the same collective energy.
In the streets of Nice, sport becomes a pretext for meeting, surpassing, and sharing.
The appointment is already set for the next edition, with the promise of seeing, once again, Nice running together!
