Nice has its Press Week in the school.

Over the years, the School Press and Media Weekยฎ has become the most significant media education event in Europe. This initiative of the Ministry of National Education is coordinated by the Center for Liaison of Teaching and Information Media (CLEMI) and conducted in partnership with media professionals and the La Poste Group. This year again in Nice, numerous workshops are planned.


semaine_presse.jpg If the 23rd School Press and Media Weekยฎ takes place nationwide from March 19 to 24, 2012, it traditionally extends over a fortnight in the Nice academy and thus continues until March 30.

In the Nice academy, the School Press and Media Weekยฎ is organized and led with partner media (Nice Matin, Var-Matin, Nice Premium, Direct Matin) and the CRDP of the Nice academy by the CLEMI coordinator, under the responsibility of the rector.

Numerous activities will take place in the Nice establishments like:

Scolaweb Demonstration. The Saint Pierre dโ€™Arรจne school was a pilot school and is one of the first 18 primary establishments to use this tool. In situ demonstration of the Scolaweb project based on the work done at the Saint Pierre dโ€™Arรจne school. This tool allows establishments to easily create an interactive online newspaper โ€” Saint Pierre d’Arรจne Primary School, 26-28 rue Louis de Coppet in Nice on Thursday, March 22 at 2 p.m.

Since last year, this establishment has been noted for setting up the first TV news produced by students. There is also at this establishment a paper newspaper created by 3rd-grade students, whose sale is handled by SEGPA students (section for adapted general and vocational education) with a “sales” focus. A spotlight will be put on a college photo project on the theme of “self-image,” one of CLEMIโ€™s favorite themes. This project aims to promote SEGPA students โ€” Port-Lympia College, 31 bd Stalingrad in Nice on Wednesday, March 21 at 9 a.m.

A workshop for creating “digital front pages” by students leading to the online publication of their work with an online newspaper. This workshop will allow schoolchildren and middle school students to present their project, exchange with journalists, and radio hosts about their profession, about the art and method of writing and disseminating information โ€” CRDP of Nice, 53 avenue Cap de Croix on Tuesday, March 20 at 2 p.m.

Launch of Radio Mรดmes for middle school students and CM1/CM2 students from Louis Nucรฉra College and three Nice school groups in networks as part of the Eclair system (Schools, middle schools, and high schools for ambition, innovation, and success). Driven by CLEMI, โ€œRadioMรดmes.frโ€ takes off, with workshops that will allow students to learn to work on sound but above all to write their sections and voice them. Students learn to build a program lineup, choose the topic to cover, search for information, and perform sound editing. A website will soon allow Radio Mรดmes to broadcast its work โ€”
Louis Nucรฉra College, 2 pont Renรฉ Coty in Nice on Monday, March 19 at 10:30 a.m.

This is an educational project about the newsagent involving 4 classes. One class fetches the newspaper and returns with the newsagent “Le Bonaparte” (8 rue Barla in Nice) to the school, so he can introduce himself and explain his work. A print journalist also contributes โ€” Dubouchage Nursery School, 3 boulevard Dubouchage in Nice on Monday, March 19 at 9 a.m.

But, as every year, new features will also be presented during this school press week, such as:

  • The 1st Middle/High School Reporter Competition, in partnership with Nice-Matin and the Association Region Press Teaching Youth (ARPEJ). The aim of the competition is to raise studentsโ€™ awareness of the business world by giving them a taste for information through images and publishing their photos in the columns of the newspapers from the Nice-Matin group. This competition is open to all students from 5th grade to senior year in Alpes-Maritimes and Var. The results will be published during the press week. The Jury will be held on Wednesday, March 21, and the results will be published in Nice matin on March 26.
  • Training sessions in the establishments: 4 courses are organized this year in the fields of image education, the creation of a Cyber-newspaper, speech in performance (decoding television debates), or setting up radio shows.
  • An all-year partnership with the Regional Center for Educational Documentation (CRDP), the academic delegation for student life (DAVL) on common actions (high school houses and school newspapers)

  • The Scolaweb operation: the city of Nice provides schools with a common portal allowing them to open a site, communicate and exchange information. For now, 18 schools are “connected”: www.scolaweb.nice.fr

  • A new site from the CLEMI of the Nice academy, designed as a new communication and information tool: www.ac-nice.fr/clemi/

  • A study among primary to high school establishments, which provides an accurate and comprehensive overview of media education in the Nice academy (results to be published at the end of the year).
