A month after the lost final against Mulhouse, the NHCA is already focused on the next season. “We had to part ways with four players and recruited four, including one with a CV as long as your arm,” promises Alexandre Duyck. Before unveiling this luxury recruit, the NHCA manager reflects on the previous season. “We had a very good season. Both in terms of sports and in the stands. We started the season with 500 spectators and ended with 1,000,” Alexandre Duyck notes with satisfaction.

Stan Sutor also praises his club’s season. “The team gained strength throughout the season. Now we need to focus on the next season. I am very motivated.” Precisely, this new season will feature four new recruits: Maxime Belov (Mont-Blanc), Nicolas Montreff (Brest), Andrej Themar (HC Martin, Slovak championship), and Arne Krotak (Poprad, Slovak championship).

Arne Krotak is the NHCA’s star recruit. “He is a very experienced player. Furthermore, he will be a huge asset in terms of the club’s notoriety,” assures Stan Sutor. This Slovak boasts an impressive record: he has played 1,022 matches in the Slovak championship and scored 955 points (445 goals and 510 assists). This is a record.

“We need to develop the family spirit within the club”

After the presentation of Arne Krotak, Stan Sutor reveals the goals for the next season. “This year, we would like to reach the semi-finals. It’s going to be tough with teams like Lyon, Brest, or Reims,” he explains.

But the NHCA’s objectives are not only athletic. “The players will take even more part in the life of the NHCA. 60% of them will participate in training sessions with young players,” announces the Nice coach. “We need to develop the family spirit of the club,” he adds. Through this approach, the club aims to strengthen the training of young players to enhance its competitiveness in the coming years.

We will have to wait for the weekend of September 8 to see the Nice Eagles back on the ice for the start of the 2012-2013 season.
