Nice honors its champions at the Sports Victories ceremony.

The entire sports world was present this Thursday evening at Acropolis to celebrate the Sports Victories, honoring the champions of 2019. A 12th edition full of promise at the dawn of a 2020 filled with sporting events for the city of Nice.


“You are the heart and energy of Nice.” These were the words of the city’s mayor for his champions. In total, there were 440 medalists at this ceremony, a record since the creation of the Sports Victories. “You are our pride and we have never had such a high level in all sports nationally,” also praised Christian Estrosi.

The patron of this edition, Fabio Quartararo, a prodigy in Moto GP, was the perfect symbol of this golden youth of Nice.

The program for this evening also featured a long segment presenting the Tour de France. Among the guests were Gerard Holtz, Christian Prudhomme, and Bernard Thevenet. Respectively a journalist, director, and ambassador of the tour in Nice, the three men spoke and praised the upcoming weekend and the three stages in the French Riviera at the end of June.

Shortly afterward, the first prize, the “Clubs Trophy,” was won by the rugby players of Stade Niçois.

Then, after presentation videos of the 440 medalists, the awards for the sportspeople of the year trophies were unveiled by Christophe Josse, the host of this evening.
