Nice honors its sports club presidents.

In front of more than 200 people, including club presidents and athletes, the Senator Mayor initially congratulated the clubs that achieved remarkable scores, and then encouraged those that had faced a more challenging season, concluding that “in sports, one cannot always be the winner.”

Jacques Peyrat also made a point to congratulate these presidents, association members, and volunteers who, through their efforts, contribute to the social fabric of the City. Sports activities serve as a catalyst for social cohesion, where “respect for rules and mutual aid are invariably the keys against all forms of delinquency.”

Delinquency and violence, which are regrettable presences even within sports facilities, must be fought more vehemently: a recent meeting gathered judicial, administrative, and police authorities. “Everything will be done to protect these places, in perfect coordination, I hope, with the judiciary and the police.”

Finally, after looking back on the past season and ahead to the next, recalling the work done on sports infrastructure by the City’s services, Mr. Jacques Peyrat confirmed the project of the Grand Stadium, which should be realized between 2009-2010, and the project of a Sports City in the Plaine du Var (on which the municipality has been working for 5 years), expected by 2013, where the first structural element should be the construction of a large aquatic complex.
