Nice honors Simone Veil: A boulevard is named after her.

The resolution unanimously passed during the Municipal Council on December 20, 2012, was formalized yesterday during a ceremony in the presence of the sons of Madame Veil, Jean and Pierre-Franรงois, who represented their mother. The Mayor of Nice delivered a touching speech about the life of the Nice-born woman in front of an emotional audience.

And how could one not be moved when listening to the story of a life in which courage and humanity prevailed over tragedy and memory? Simone Veil was her entire life inspired by the values of justice, peace, and freedom.

By naming this public road after her, we are not only paying her the tribute she deserves, but above all, it is a message, an example, and a message for the younger generations and their future.

This road, which is the current extension of Boulevard Paul Montel, makes up part of the 40-meter road in its southern section, an 8-kilometer road that will eventually connect the neighborhoods of Saint-Augustin (Airport, Nice Mรฉridia…) located in the south of the city with those in the north (Lingostiรจre, Les Combes…) through Saint-Isidore.

Last September, Avenue Pierre de Coubertin, the northern part of the 40-meter road, was opened.
