Nice honors the International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation.

Latest News

As every year, the association Generation Women of Africa and Beyond (GFAA) and the city of Nice organize an awareness evening on the occasion of the “World Day of Fighting Against Excision”.

This evening, which is free and open to everyone, aims to inform and denounce an ancestral practice that destroys many women (with 3 million new cases every year!).

This edition will be marked by hope for all these young women who have been excised and who, thanks to reconstructive surgery, can regain all their dignity.

During this evening, information will be provided by Kardiatou Sy, President of the association Generation Women of Africa and Beyond, who has been working daily since 2009 against this scourge.

Professor André Bongain, a specialist in reconstructive surgery at the University Hospital of Nice, will discuss the possibilities of reconstructive surgery now available for adult women who have undergone female genital mutilation.

Moreover, in support of this cause, artists will mobilize (singer, graffiti artists, etc.). Artworks will be sold for the benefit of the association Generation Women of Africa and Beyond (GFAA) so that it can organize other awareness actions. A film proposed by UNICEF will also be screened (6 minutes long).
