In 1984, Alain Trampoglieri, then a young elected official at the Saint-Tropez town hall, created this competition, which celebrated its 30th edition this year. It is an annual awards list of innovations around local democracy that seeks to recognize the positivity of good practices, make them known, and support them in an educational way.
This Mariannes d’Or competition is well known and remains a demanding showcase of proximity and recognition of republican excellence.
During a ceremony conducted with complete simplicity and animated with the style of a pleasant presenter by Alain Trampoglieri, the 23 represented municipalities received their awards.
Often coming from rural or very small municipalities, the mayors expressed their pride for this recognition that allows them, at least for once, to experience the spotlight.
While we are pleased to mention the municipalities of Nice, Beaulieu-sur-Mer, and Saint-Vallier-de-Thiey from the Alpes-Maritimes, we particularly want to highlight the promising presence of the young mayors of Ouistreham (Calvados) and Tinchebray (Orne). These young elected officials, whose enthusiasm and desire for action are duly recognized by their awards, are noteworthy.
Hence, it is with great pleasure that we observe that grassroots democracy is functioning well and that the next generation is ready.
