Itโs not easy to play a mix of table tennis and air hockey blindfolded. This new sport, designed for the visually impaired, is making a return to the city. After a successful first edition, itโs time to revisit this discipline.
Showdown was invented by the Canadian blind athlete Joe Lewis in the 1960s. The term “showdown” means “confrontation” in English. It gained increasing success and impact and was introduced as a leisure sport at the Paralympic Games in 1980 in the Netherlands and at subsequent Paralympic Games. Today, this sport is played in many countries, mainly European, and even in the Bay of Angels.
With a victory by ASPTT Toulouse in 2024, the Nice club ANICES, aimed high in 2025. The people of Nice are training hard ahead of the 2nd National Triplette Showdown Tournament. While the organizing team of ANICES is putting in all their efforts to ensure the smooth running of the competition, the players, as well as the referees, are conducting back-to-back training to be on the podium for the 2nd edition of this tournament!
