Last week, Christian Estrosi officially inaugurated the Metropolitan Bicycle House. An initiative aimed at promoting carbon-neutral mobility.
Located at 12 Rue de Suisse, just steps away from Avenue Jean Médecin and Thiers Station, this Bicycle House is designed as a resource hub for cyclists, catering to both novices and experienced users.
The result of the 2021-2026 Bicycle Plan, this project represents the commitment of the Metropolis and the city of Nice to promote soft mobility, in partnership with the associations Viavélo and Cyclotrope. Numerous services are offered on site free of charge:
- Co-repair workshops to learn how to maintain and repair one’s bicycle independently,
- Bicycle flea markets to facilitate access to second-hand equipment,
- Bicycle schools and mobile workshops to support children and adults in getting back in the saddle,
- Debate evenings, film screenings, and themed events with the presence of experts,
- Information, practical advice, and documentation on cycling practices and preferred routes.
Note: Two mechanic sessions are held each day, Monday to Saturday, allowing users to receive regular technical support.
Workshop opening hours:
- Monday: 3 PM-5 PM (Bicycode bike marking), then 5 PM-8 PM
- Tuesday: 2 PM-6 PM
- Wednesday: 5 PM-7 PM
- Thursday: 9 AM-12 PM and 2 PM-6 PM
- Friday afternoon: 2 PM-6 PM
- Saturday afternoon: 2 PM-6 PM.
The membership fee for the workshop is set at 20 euros, valid for one year from the date of registration.
With this space for meetings and exchanges, the Metropolis Nice Côte d’Azur has equipped itself with an essential tool to facilitate and encourage the use of bicycles, while also strengthening its cycling ecosystem through a network of committed stakeholders.
