A new green lung has just emerged in Nice Nord, located on the Pessicart hill, the Clua Park covering an area of 5.5 hectares was inaugurated on Sunday. Named โ€œDoctor Jean Guillaudโ€ in tribute to this Nice politician, who was a municipal councilor, deputy mayor, general councilor of the 11th district, part of Jean and Jacques Mรฉdecin’s teams and advocated for its creation.

This park, with an elevation difference of 140 m, is made up of multiple terraces. Two access points are available to the residents of Nice, either through the avenue of Clua or via the road of Pessicart. Significant works (โ‚ฌ900,000) have been carried out to make it safe and compliant, thus allowing the entire population to enjoy this place for walking and relaxation.

Relaxation as well, because in 2009, a health trail will be created along with a meeting and activity area, a playground, and water points.
This park will also hold an educational purpose with an arboretum where many students from the surrounding schools: Pessicart, Righi, St-Pancrace will come to discover the fauna and flora.

A Policy on Green Space

The deputy mayor of Nice, Christian Estrosi, present at the inauguration, aims to have delivered more than 100 hectares of protected green space in Nice by the end of his term. To achieve this, following the inauguration of the Estienne d’Orves park last June, the complete redevelopment of the Jardin de Sainte-Marguerite, the creation of a park at the Observatory, at Villa La Tour located on boulevard Bischoffsheim, and a large Central Park on the Plaine du Var at the heart of Eco Valley are already planned.

Always keeping in mind the objective of creating a large green corridor dear to Nicolas Hulot, who is in the process of setting up his foundation at the Grande Corniche.

It seems that green is in fashion in the department at the moment!
