Nice International Half Marathon: How to Move and Park Properly This Weekend

The race significantly disrupts traffic and parking in Nice. Here is the information you need to know to plan your movements this weekend.

In front of the Méridien hotel, the runners will start on Sunday, April 30, at 8 AM, along the Promenade des Anglais. However, disruptions will begin earlier. Therefore, the city council advises motorists to avoid the Old Nice area and the Promenade des Anglais. For the smooth running of this 2023 edition, it will be necessary to favor public transportation from Lignes d’Azur. Alternatively, you could take the Mathis Road if you’re heading towards West Nice, the airport, East Nice, or the city center.

Under these conditions, traveling by bike safely could also be complicated. Since, from 4 AM to 3 PM, the bike lanes on Verdun avenue, Promenade des Anglais, and Quai des États-Unis will be closed. From 5:30 AM to 11:30 AM, the following quays will be impassable: Papacino, Lunel, and Rauba Capeu.

For parking, it is advised to use parking lots on the outskirts of the city, such as park-and-ride facilities. In general, a large number of car and motorcycle parking spots will be inaccessible from Carras to the port. However, all car parks remain accessible except for the Sulzer parking lot, Rhul Méridien parking lot from 4 AM to 3 PM. Then, from 5:30 AM to 11 AM, the Lympia and Phare parking lots will also be out of service.

Restriction Nice-Center

The following roads will be closed to traffic on Sunday, April 30, from 4 AM to 3 PM:

Félix Faure Avenue, between Alberti street and Masséna Square (only non-standard sizes), Chauvain Street, between Gioffredo street and Félix Faure avenue (only non-standard sizes), Verdun Avenue, entirely (between Sweden Avenue and Promenade des Anglais), Promenade des Anglais, north lane, from Max Gallo avenue to Gambetta boulevard, Promenade des Anglais, south lane, from Honoré Sauvan street to Max Gallo avenue, Bréa Street, Van Loo Street, Milton Robbins Street, Saint-François-de-Paule Street, between Desboutin street and Max Gallo avenue, Max Gallo Avenue, Jean Jaurès Boulevard, between Masséna Square and the Auguste Escoffier descent, Quai des États-Unis from 8 May 1945 Square, Desboutin Street, Masséna Square (reverse circulation for residents), Alexandre Mari Street, from Masséna Square to Town Hall Street (reverse circulation for residents), Liautaud Tunnel entrance from Max Gallo avenue;

All the perpendicular access points serving the Promenade des Anglais, between Gambetta Boulevard and Max Gallo Avenue, will be dead ends. Only residents will have access.

From 5:30 AM to 9:30 AM only, Jean Jaurès Boulevard between Escoffier descent and Crotti descent and the Resistance and Deportation Alley will be closed to traffic.

It’s worth noting that to access Old Nice, the Crotti descent will be permanently open. All businesses around the sporting event remain open.

Restriction Nice West/Promenade des Anglais

The following roads will be closed to traffic on Sunday, April 30, from 5 AM to 1:30 PM:

Promenade des Anglais, south lane, from Grenouillères Avenue to Honoré Sauvan Street, the Magnan Tunnel, Carras Port, Promenade des Anglais, north lane, from Gambetta Boulevard to Frémont Street.

All the perpendicular access points serving the Promenade des Anglais, between Grenouillères Avenue (not included) and Frémont Street will be dead ends. Only residents will have access.

Restriction Nice Port Area

The following roads will be closed to traffic on Sunday, April 30, from 5:30 AM to 11 AM:

Rauba Capeu Quay, Guynemer Square, Lunel Quay, Papacino Quay, Antoine Gautier Street between Emmanuel Philibert Street and Papacino Quay, Emmanuel Philibert Street between Antoine Gautier Street and Robilante Street, Robilante Street, Foresta Street between Ségurane Street and Château ascent (except residents and access to the Château), Foresta Street from Montfort ascent to Guynemer Square, Ponchettes Street, 8 May Square.

Parking Ban

From Saturday, April 29, at 8 PM to Sunday, April 30, at 3 PM, parking is prohibited in the following places:

Promenade des Anglais, entire south lanes, Promenade Corniglion Molinier, entire south lane, Promenade des Anglais north lane from Max Gallo Avenue to No. 325, Carras Port, entire Quai des États-Unis, entire Max Gallo Avenue, entire Verdun Avenue, Saint-François-de-Paule Street, between Max Gallo Avenue and Bréa Street, Gustave V Avenue, between the Promenade des Anglais and the two-wheeler parking (not included), Bréa Street, between Quai des États-Unis and Saint-François-de-Paule Street.

And then, from Saturday, April 29, at 8 PM to Sunday, April 30, at 10 AM, parking is prohibited in the resistance and deportation alley for two-wheelers and in Crotti Descent.

Finally, from Saturday, April 29, at 8 PM to Sunday, April 30, at 11 AM, parking is prohibited in the following places:

Rauba Capeu Quay, Lunel Quay, Papacino Quay, Antoine Gautier Street between Papacino Quay and Emmanuel Philibert Street, Emmanuel Philibert Street between Antoine Gautier Street and Robilante Street, Robilante Street.
