Nice is having its Record Store Day!

Latest News

This Saturday, April 20, marks the 3rd national edition of “Record Store Day” at nearly two hundred independent record stores. In the Alpes-Maritimes, there are only three, all in Nice, including the store Harmonia Mundi

harmonia_mundi.jpg All vinyl enthusiasts and collectors eagerly await this day as it is an opportunity for them to acquire rare pieces pressed in limited editions. Records from Bowie, Jimi Hendrix, The Doors, Miles Davis, or The Velvet Underground will attract nostalgics, while there will also be a rush for those from Metronomy, Bat For Lashes, Pendentif, The Notorious B.I.G, or Juveniles, to name just a few of the thirty selected artists.

This day is the French version, organized by the Club Action des Labels Indépendants Français (CALIF) since 2011, of an operation launched in 2007 in the USA and the UK, called “Record Store Day.” An international event intended to honor, on the 3rd Saturday of April, independent record stores or local cultural businesses run by enthusiasts.

“Let’s wake each other up,” proclaimed Jack White, the official ambassador of Record Store Day 2013, presenting this edition and calling for a return to record stores and vinyl. What could be more logical for this “garage rock” guitarist-singer, but also the owner of a record store in Nashville!

The store Harmonia Mundi in Nice has decided to go even further by involving some local musicians throughout the day in the form of “showcases” or unique musical encounters where all artists are welcome to make a brief appearance.

The schedule of events:

11 AM: Electroacoustic music with Mario Mary, composer, professor at the Rainier III Academy of Monaco, and artistic director of the International Electroacoustic Music Festival (May 2 to 5)

4 PM: Folk music trio led by Cédric Lauer

6 PM: Musical surprise (subject to change)
