Once again, Nice has been heavily involved alongside the local associative network to make the Telethon a major solidarity event, bringing together all locals around a common goal: to fight the inevitable and invent the medicine of tomorrow to cure children.
To accompany this great popular and associative festival, all resources have been mobilized to organize a rich and varied program. There is something for everyone with sports and cultural activities, concerts, a theater marathon, a giant Zumba session, creative workshops, games for children, and challenges.
The kickoff for the 2013 Nice Telethon will be given at Place Garibaldi at 6 p.m., with the following program:
At 6 p.m., at the Maison des Associations: Female Vocal Ensemble and the Choir of the CNRR directed by Isabelle Gioanni, accompanied by Nathalie Lebrun and her students, Harp Professor at the Conservatory, and Norma Mugnier, harpist.
Starting at 6:30 p.m.: Participation from the firefighters with their large ladder and the Nice Municipal Police Association, which organizes, in partnership with the city’s sports department, a “stationary bikes” sporting event: a donation of 2€ in exchange for a pedal push for a good cause! Then, a country dance demonstration, a concert by the Arion Singers choir, and to warm up, a giant Zumba session!
For two days, December 6 and 7, Nice’s neighborhoods will resonate in unison to make this 27th Telethon a true popular movement.
We offer you a small inventory of initiatives from various associations. The proceeds will be entirely donated to the Telethon Committee.
On Saturday, December 7, the swimming section of the association “La Semeuse” will organize a sports day in support of the Telethon. The Saint François pool will welcome a public eager to combine sport and solidarity from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The associations at Place Garibaldi (from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.):
*AVF* will sell sweets (Sand roses, gingerbread, cakes, macarons, madeleines, financiers, mendiants, pastries) and organize a walk (meeting at 2 p.m. returning around 4:30 p.m.)
*Polytech Sophia* is taking on the challenge this year and organizing a “race” on a bike. The challenge is to achieve 2,660 km, the distance that separates the 13 schools of the Polytech Network! The goal is to travel as many kilometers as possible, with the aim of raising one euro per kilometer.
*FACE 06 (Federation of Student Associations and Corporations of the Alpes-Maritimes)*, last year, thanks to the dynamism and strength of the FACE 06 network, we were able to donate nearly 4,000 euros to the AFM Telethon. This year, our goal is to reach 5,000 euros.
On this occasion, FACE 06 and its associations will also set up stalls selling cakes, pastries, pancakes, international dishes, hot drinks, as well as artisanal creations like bookmarks and candle holders.
10th Niçoise and Gavote Cooking Workshop
At the Arbre Association, 84 Boulevard Henri Sappia (Nissa) at 2 p.m. Lioneu Veròla will offer Niçoise language students the opportunity to improve or learn Niçoise and Gavote recipes using the Niçoise language.
Featured will be: pumpkin ravioli with walnut sauce (li raiòlas de cogorda au sauçon de noaes), Breil fritters (li borsotas de Briei), and Christmas nougat (Lo nogat de Calènas). To make these recipes, we will use local products including olive oil from Cimiez and Rimiez (in Nissa) produced by the Arbre association, as well as Nissa pumpkin.
The Bar du Master Home at 11 Rue de la Préfecture will offer activities supervised by players from the *Stade Niçois* starting at 12 p.m.
For children: Inflatable structures (Attractions 06), face painting (Styl’Eyes), pony rides in old Nice
For all ages: Live music groups including Romain Wylson (former Stade Academy member), sale of tapas plates in support of the Telethon, and the setup of a TV set with intervention from “StadeNiçois TV”.
Many partners are joining those already mentioned to offer their support, including Rubbens Real Estate, a cheese company, donkey owners, and many music groups (Spoon, K3, District, CoverNow).
