On the occasion of World AIDS Day, a large gathering will take place today at 4 PM at Bourgada Square for the formation of a large living red ribbon.
The Nice municipality encourages participation in this event and is contributing with support actions such as:
Providing the AIDS 06 Collective with its display network and a tram on which an advertisement for this day dedicated to fighting AIDS has been placed.
The creation of a large banner placed on the main Town Hall facade since November 25, to engage passersby and visitors.
Funding for the creation of 5,000 branded condoms labeled “Envie niçoise?” which will be distributed by the five buses of the AIDS 06 Collective starting tomorrow.
In partnership with the SIS Animation association (Health Info Solidarity), the City of Nice is fully engaged in this objective and offers free rapid diagnostic orientation tests (TROD):
The PACA region is the second region in metropolitan France, after Île-de-France, affected by the AIDS epidemic, both in terms of the number of new HIV-positive cases with 544 discoveries of HIV positivity in 2012, and by the rate per million inhabitants with 110 discoveries of HIV positivity per million inhabitants in 2012. In France, 120,000 people live with HIV.
It is estimated that 28,800 people infected with HIV are unaware of their HIV-positive status.
