As every summer, the hills of Cimiez resonate with the sounds of saxophones and the smooth voices of jazz singers. 60 years later, the artists have certainly changed, but the magic has not faded. Covers of standards by Frank Sinatra, Cole Porter, or Ella Fitzgerald are on the program, as well as new tracks. Thus, from July 19 to 26, 2008, crooners like George Benson will blend their voices with the fiery violins of Nigel Kennedy. A festival that rhymes with renewal and authenticity, as this year, jazz is more than ever at the heart of this event. Gone are the pop/rock artists. Snubbed by the artists, these latter have chosen “Jazz à Vienne” and the “Montreux Jazz Festival” in Switzerland. They return today for the great delight of aficionados. Note that this year the festival will have its offshoot version.
