After two reimagined editions, the Nice Jazz Festival will finally return to its two stages in the unique setting of Place Massรฉna and the Thรฉรขtre de Verdure for its new edition from July 15 to 19.
This highly anticipated edition will feature 30 bands over five consecutive nights starting on July 15.
For five days, the city will resonate with the sounds of major national and international figures, jazz legends, as well as today’s discoveries that contribute to the festival’s renown.
An edition that, like its poster, will honor all the diversity of jazz.
Award-winning and Committed Artists
Clara Luciani, a native of Bouches-du-Rhรดne, will perform on the stage set up at Place Massรฉna on Saturday, July 16 at 11 PM. With her second album “Coeur,” released in June 2021, she quickly reached the top of the album sales charts in France.
She has been awarded several Victoires de la Musique and was notably named Female Artist of the Year. The occasion will deliver a highly anticipated performance, surrounded by friends and loved ones on stage, who will join her in performing the single “Respire encore” live on France 2.
H.E.R., whose real name is Gabriella Wilson, has almost as many Grammy nominations as candles on her birthday cake.
The 24-year-old American has been nominated 21 times at the prestigious music industry event across the Atlantic. She has won 4 awards, including Song of the Year for “I Can’t Breathe” in 2021.
A direct reference to the final words of George Floyd, killed by the Minneapolis police in May 2020. An event that shook the United States, sparking the Black Lives Matter movement.
Malian singer Fatoumata Diawara has also helped amplify the voices of those unheard or forgotten by participating in charitable works for children affected by war.
She has collaborated with Matthieu Chedid and prominently with British singer Damon Albarn (Blur, Gorillaz) since 2012, on the Rocket Juice and The Moon projectโalso featuring Flea, the bassist from the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Their friendship remains strong, as captured by the cameras of France 2 in the show Taratata.
Legendary Figures
Iggy Pop, do you know him? Of course, you do! The American legend, former member of the Stooges, has a great affection for France… and the feeling is mutual.
He begins a tour in early May in the country with 12 dates over a few weeks (he will also perform in Monaco on May 19 at the Grimaldi Forum), before returning to the Nice Jazz Festival on July 19 at 11 PM, Place Massรฉna.
The opportunity to discover his new songs, like “Family Affair.”
Marcus Miller, by far the best bassist of his generation, will not miss the Nice stage either, as he is a regular of the Jazz ร Juan festival.
