Sunday, December 8, from 5 PM, Avenue Jean Mรฉdecin will transform into an open-air stage for the fourth edition of the Great Christmas Parade.
Organized by the Nice Shopping association, with the support of the city of Nice, the parade brings together 200 artists. Musicians, dancers, circus performers, mascots, and even Santa Claus will offer a variety of performances. Four carnival floats, created by the Nice artisans Povigna and Pignataro, will accompany the procession. Sylviane Palomba, the artistic director, has envisioned a 1.5-hour show blending tradition and innovation.
Christian Estrosi, the mayor of Nice, emphasizes the importance of this event: “The Great Christmas Parade boosts shopping at Nice’s stores during this key period. This unique format in France attracts locals and tourists, enhancing the appeal of our city.”
An Economic and Cultural Impact
The parade is more than just a show. It represents a true dynamic for local commerce. By bringing together 45,000 spectators each year, it encourages foot traffic to local businesses and contributes to the economic vitality of Nice. Patrick Nolier, president of Nice Shopping, states: “This event enhances the appeal of our merchants and the image of Nice as a winter shopping destination.”
In parallel, the Christmas market, set up in Place Massรฉna and Jardin Albert 1er, also adds to the festive atmosphere of the city. Traditional chalets, local products, and lights will delight both young and old until the end of the year.
