Approximately 1,500 people responded to the invitation from Rudy Salles, the departmental president of the UDI, for the traditional New Year’s ceremony. It was also an opportunity to review the political year gone by and share some thoughts on the municipal elections in Nice, where the elected official will seek a new term on Christian Estrosi’s list.
In fact, we were treated to an uncompromising critique of the government’s actions and, conversely, an unequivocally positive judgment of the outgoing municipal majority’s actions, in which Rudy Salles played a significant role through his delegation in tourism and international relations.
The alliance with Christian Estrosi’s UMP from the first round has been confirmed: The Nice “center” is more a reference to geometry than political differentiation.
A well-calibrated and concise speech, aimed at a sympathetic audience to be flattered, culminating in a “carnivalesque” finale with a caricatured style and rather dubious irony.
Identical content and the same heavy tone characterized the speech of the main host (but above all a lifelong friend), Christian Estrosi, who, in his (too) lengthy presentation, also criticized national policy, while claiming a record of total success and great satisfaction with this concluding term.
An afternoon that allowed the two politicians to express their views on the themes of an electoral campaign they will conduct hand in hand.
