On the occasion of the New Year’s greetings from the Nice Nautical Center, the President of the General Council, Eric Ciotti, awarded the gold medal for youth and sports to Frédéric Allo, President of the CNN.
The greetings were held in the renovated part of CNN’s new restaurant. Frédéric Allo greeted all the guests. The President of the Nice Nautical Center admitted to having “great pride for two reasons. Moving from bronze to gold without the silver stage. When I received the letter from the Minister of Sports, I thought I got silver, but I read gold; it was a great pride. There aren’t many gold medals awarded in the department, maybe about twenty.” To start this meeting among water sports enthusiasts, Richard Papazian, President of the ONN (Olympic Nice Swimming), and representing Christian Estrosi on this occasion, spoke to congratulate Frédéric Allo.
The award was presented to him by the President of the General Council of Alpes-Maritimes, Éric Ciotti: “The Republic’s tribute to Frédéric Allo. This rewards a career entirely dedicated to youth and sports. The official wants to share the history of this club, which is celebrating its 130th anniversary. For him, the club is at the center of the city’s sports activity, with prestigious events including the Nice regattas – an ever-renewed dynamism. The City and the General Council can be proud of the CNN…Today, the club is a key player in Azur sports. You ensure sporting excellence.” Eric Ciotti also admits that it is now difficult to manage a club, requiring the right skills, tackling administrative constraints, and constantly innovating.
Frédéric Allo has been working for 30 years (he joined CNN in 1979) as an administrator, Vice-president, then as President, and as a delegated President of the departmental committee, sailing section. Frédéric Allo has done a lot for his club but also in his role as a technology teacher at Daudet College. A live session with his students and Vendée Globe skipper Jean-Pierre Dick before the Christmas holidays. The winner, François Gabart, spent some time at the Center and recalls the excellent results of his protégés: 3 gold medals in rowing at the French Championships, 6 podiums, and a 7th in sailing a few days ago.
“I thank the help of the General Council and the City as well as all the people who work alongside me.” A beautiful project that the two Institutions have developed together. Finally, he wants to say to all the gold medalists in the department: “I have joined you and I am proud of it,” and wishes, as tradition demands, a happy new year to everyone.
