Nice Opera: COSÌ FAN TUTTE by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart

Latest News

It is this work, universally appreciated since its creation in 1790, that will be performed four times: on Friday, January 17th (8 PM), Sunday, January 19th (3 PM), Tuesday, January 21st (8 PM), and Friday, January 23rd (8 PM) on the stage of the Nice Opera House.

It is said that Emperor Joseph II himself, amused by the story of two officers who had swapped their wives, suggested the theme of Così fan tutte (All Women Do So) to Mozart and Da Ponte for the third and final fruit of their brilliant collaboration.

The music, as elegant as it is subtle, from a Mozart at the peak of his talent, bathes this bittersweet story in which the four protagonists move from indignation to libertinism, from pity to anger, and from resignation to heartache.

As with the other two titles (Don Giovanni and The Marriage of Figaro) making up the triptych by Mozart-Da Ponte which were presented in Nice during the previous season and the one before that, the staging is once again directed by Daniel Benoin, also director of the Théâtre d’Antibes Anthéa with which this show is co-produced.

The score will be performed by the Nice Philharmonic Orchestra and the Choir of the Nice Opera conducted by Roland Böer, whom the local audience has had the opportunity to applaud several times.

As for the voices, they will be those of Anna Kasyan (soprano) for the role of Fiordiligi, Carine Sechaye (mezzo) for Dorabella, Roberto Lenzi (baritone) for Guglielmo, and Pierre Derhet (tenor) for Ferrando.
