Nice wished to pay tribute this Thursday to the memory of the three police officers who died during last week’s attacks: Franck Brinsolaro, 49, and Ahmed Merabet, 40, killed during the Charlie Hebdo attack by the Kouachi brothers, as well as Clarissa Jean-Philippe, 26, killed in Montrouge by Amedy Coulibaly.
A simple ceremony took place with the laying of a wreath at the War Memorial early in the morning, attended by Prefect Adolphe Colrat and civil and military authorities.
No speeches (and it was just as well!), just an act of gratitude to the victims for sacrificing the most precious thing in fulfilling their duty: life!
Emotion was palpable among the attendees, composed mainly of officials, with the presence of citizens reduced to a few passersby.
On the sidelines of the event, the mayor of Nice confirmed the extraordinary convening of the City Council to deliberate on the implementation of preventive and security measures aimed at combating terrorism and radicalization.
More details will be available on Monday after the public session.
