It was on April 11, 2007, in Villefranche-sur-Mer that the free diver Loïc Leferme disappeared during a No Limit freediving training session. It was his 39th dive, at -171 meters.

On Sunday, September 14, during the official launch of the Loïc Leferme Foundation, a major event will be organized this Sunday, September 14, between Nice and Villefranche-sur-Mer.

Program:

• 8:10 am: At “Plage de la Réserve” at Nice’s port, a minute of silence for Loïc Leferme with French athletes Laura Flessel, Christophe Pinna, Richard Dacoury, Florence Masnada, Yves Cordier, Odile Diagana, Nathalie Leroy, Nicolas Capdeville.

• 8:15 am: At “Plage de la Réserve” at Nice’s port, start of the “Poisson Lune PADDLE Race,” the open water swimming race, and the race for bi-fins and mono-fins. These three races, whose starts will be given successively, represent a 5-kilometer course starting from Nice’s water sports base, home to the International Freediving Center founded by Loïc Leferme in 1999, to the “Plage des Marinières” in Villefranche-sur-Mer, passing through the Bay of Villefranche-sur-Mer, the place of all his world freediving records. About a hundred participants are expected. • 12:00 pm: At “Plage des Marinières” in Villefranche-sur-Mer, official launch of the Loïc Leferme Foundation and opening of the exhibition about Loïc Leferme “His life, his adventure…”.

• 2:30 pm: At “Plage des Marinières” in Villefranche-sur-Mer, “Pro Am” race with French athletes Laura Flessel, Christophe Pinna, Richard Dacoury, Florence Masnada, Yves Cordier, Odile Diagana, Nathalie Leroy, Nicolas Capdeville. This unique race is a relay between a seasoned swimmer, a French sports celebrity, and a teenager. It is a friendly race aimed at creating a sports exchange and fair play among three generations and three levels of experience.

• 10:00 am to 5:00 pm: At “Plage de la Réserve” in Nice and “Plage des Marinières” in Villefranche-sur-Mer, activities with renowned associations related to ecology, discovery of the marine world, and water sports.

• 7:00 pm to midnight: At the open-air theater of Nice, tribute concert for Loïc Leferme, with local Nice bands who were friends of Loïc, highlighting another of his essential talents in life, music and the harmonica. Free concert open to the public within the limit of available seats.
