UPE06 was the only regional organization to have signed, to date, the protocol between MEDEF and CNOSF at the local level with CROS Côte d’Azur.
The first Corporate Sport Forum was held on Friday, March 18 at the Maison du sport français. This forum, initiated by the CISE (Interfederal Council for Corporate Sport of the CNOSF) in collaboration with the delegation for sport and diversity in practices, was opened by Denis Masseglia.
It brought together the main stakeholders in corporate sports. More than a hundred presidents of sports federations, leaders of private sports structures, business leaders, union and employer representatives, occupational health doctors, managers of corporate sports clubs, and employers debated the issues and worked on the new challenges of corporate sports.
In his speech, Denis Masseglia expressed the need for CNOSF to be a propositional force “for an activity sector that has existed for a long time, but now needs to take on a new dimension. The goal of the CNOSF is to encourage a better awareness of corporate sports, with proposals and initiatives already present in almost all sports federations.
The agreement signed with the Mouvement des Entreprises de France (MEDEF) will pave the way to helping optimize this practice. The stakes are significant, both at the individual level and at the corporate level: regular and appropriate practice contributes to well-being, a person who feels good mentally and physically is inherently more effective at work. There can be no long-term productive individuals if they are not happy. Corporate sports can also serve as a tool for implementing the social aspect of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), which companies must now take into account.”
Aside from the development of sports practices within companies, another challenge is recognizing at hiring the skills acquired by employees or job applicants through their volunteer activities within sports associations. Denis Masseglia emphasizes, “Corporate sports are not only expected to evolve, but to become increasingly important. It is an incredible challenge that we have at our fingertips.”
“What financing, with what equipment, what role should corporate sport play in the federal system?” were the main themes discussed during the afternoon’s collaborative workshops.
At the end of the meeting, the CNOSF vice-president in charge of diversity of practices, Françoise Sauvageot, was able to suggest some pathways to encourage and help the sports movement and businesses mobilize for the development of corporate sports:
Work will begin at the CNOSF this April to explore development avenues in this field, notably with CNOSF partners,
An analysis and provision of best practices will be offered by the CNOSF on its information platform,
A reflection on mutual possibilities for implementing actions to promote corporate sports will be initiated with MEDEF, so that concrete proposals are presented by the end of the year.
In thanking all the participants of the 1st Corporate Sports Forum, Françoise Sauvageot invited them to save the date for a second edition in 2012.
