The Pink Parade, organized since 2004, took place again this Saturday afternoon in Nice.
“Our fundamental values are not negotiable!” This is what could be read on signs this Saturday afternoon in Nice, on Saint-Jean-Baptiste Avenue. Like the “gay pride” and other “pride marches,” its goal is to unite gays, bisexuals, transgender people, and LGBT-friendly individuals around a festive, friendly event and to promote a better understanding of human differences.
“We, the people of Nice, who today regain the freedom to demonstrate in our streets, want to prioritizing uniting our differences, our diversities,” could be heard through the loudspeakers placed on the floats. It was to the rhythm of electronic music that the parade set off towards the Promenade des Anglais, where a minute of silence was observed.
Inside an ultra-secure perimeter, the demonstrators were able to demand “the freedom to have control over their bodies; to live in the gender that is theirs, simply, freely, without judge or mutilation. To aid and welcome their brothers and sisters in danger in many countries. Equality, with medically assisted procreation (PMA) allowed for all women, heterosexual, homosexual, single.
End discrimination in hiring, harassment, salary differences. We demand fraternity. It is in fraternity that lies the power to have a world where we will have our place.
Finally, note that a free “Pink Drink” was organized from 7 PM on the MAMAC forecourt, for an explosion of sounds and lights. An exceptional lineup of female and male DJs was able to liven up the evening, which this year again, sparked passions!
